“Creation” is a sculptural exploration of origins, nourishment, and the intricate connections that sustain life. Its form, crafted from richly patterned fabrics, closely resembles a placenta and the umbilical cord, the life-giving organ that connects mother and child in the womb. In many cultures, the placenta is revered as a sacred organ that embodies vitality and the continuity of life.
Through this work, the braid extends this symbolism, signifying the strength, wisdom, and shared responsibility passed down through generations, much like the act of braiding hair in familial rituals. The braid serves as a metaphor for long, flowing hair, often associated with wisdom, experience, and responsibility, particularly in women. The vivid reds and intricate patterns reflect the richness of heritage while evoking the lifeblood that sustains and unites us.
